Amidst the green lush hills and surrounded by nature, Casa Valcella is the perfect get away property.  The road leading to the home winds through the hills just outside of Castiglion Fiorentino, a medieval hilltop town. The views become un describable as we reach the top and I stop for a second to take in this breathtaking vision.

Now I head along the natural road that takes me to the property entrance. I see the house before me and I pass it to park under a shaded area. The owners are there to greet me and we start to walk around the property. The views are all around me and I really get a sense of being an oasis of nature.

The 245 sqm stone built home sits on two floors and has been divided into three apartments. Stone floors, handmade terracotta tiles, exposed beams and old stone fireplaces are but a few features that have been conserved during the restoration. With a total of 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, the main house can easily accommodate a large family and many friends. Yes, a bit of work is necessary if one wishes to unite the three apartments yet leaving them as they are means that there are private areas to the home that can be left for guests.  

The grounds are mature and nicely landscaped. Close to the swimming pool I find a guest cottage with two separate suites. Again, perfect for family and friends or as a pool house. The overall ambience here is one of serenity and tranquillity.  It is easy to see how one can really relax in this environment. The 7 hectares of park is full of mature walnut trees, olives and cypresses that line the drive.  

Services are in excellent working order and include electrics, heating, septic tank and three wells for water. The property dates back to the 1500's and has historically been a sighting post. This means that the elevation is around 700 m altitude and so is cool in the summer months.

Amenities can be found in the villages below and on the way to Castiglion Fiorentino and this drive is of about 15 to 20 minutes.  Castiglion Fiorentino, the main town of the area, is full of shops, cafes and excellent restaurants.  There is a wonderful monthly market held just outside the main walls of the town where one can find fresh foods, great cheeses and all of the typical wares.
